Tezi Gabunia

Put your Head INto a Gallery

This piece, a model of Damien Hirst’s works in the Tate Modern, is one component of a series of miniature galleries. Visitors are encouraged to place their face near the opening of the gallery, essentially becoming a part of the exhibit as a hyper-realistic sculpture.

Tezi Gabunia is originally from Tbilisi, Georgia. His work centers around the idea of falsification. This is a criticism of the contemporary art world and is meant to spark a dialogue about the ways in which mass fabrication of artwork eliminates the artist as the original creator.
